A major development in public health is the integration of HIV testing into dental practice. Using a rapid non-invasive test for HIV infection offers great advantages: results are available within twenty minutes, and the test has high sensitivity and specificity.
Presenter Bio
Dr. Karl Hoffman serves as Principal Investigator for a Health Resources and Services Administration, Special Project of National Significance designed to improve access to and utilization of routine HIV oral health care and education in community settings. He was awarded the Lester William Burket Award for Outstanding Research in Oral Medicine in 2001 by the American Academy of Oral Medicine.
