Learning Objectives
At the completion of this educational session, participants will:
  1. Understand the unique sexual health needs for patients across the gender spectrum.
  2. Improve the sexual health history taking skills and risk assessments for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals.
  3. Appreciate advances in gender-confirming surgery and implications for healthcare, including STI screening.
  4. Describe innovative health-promotion strategies to improve STI prevention and care of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals.
Presenter Bio
Asa Radix, MD, MPH, FACP
Asa Radix is the Director of Research and Education at The Callen Lorde Community Health Center in New York. Asa trained in internal medicine, infectious diseases and public health at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Asa has provided care to transgender clients for over 20 years and is the associate editor of the journal of transgender health and editorial board member of the international Journal of Transgenderism. Other contributions include being a consultant for the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) on transgender health issues and co-chair of the PAHO/WHO HIV & STI technical advisory committee. Dr. Radix is the site-PI/co-investigator for 3 NIH/NIMH studies at Callen-Lorde, including a demonstration project on PrEP.
Continuing Education Credit

This CME activity was approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ on April 12, 2016 and will terminate April 11, 2019.

The target audience is all physicians, NPs and PAs involved or interested in HIV education.

This online video and post-activity evaluation are one hour in length.
